I did a little digging and found some documentation for another version of Colem (it was blocked from where I work, which is probably why I couldn't find it before). To use "*" and "#", use "-" (Fn-D) and "=" (Fn-G) respectively. =)

Been playing with the Colem emulator, and loving it! But I had a couple games that asked me to push either "*" or "#" (which is on the Coleco keypad). I've tried pressing every key, and nothing seemed to work. Are there keys assigned to "*" and "#"?

There was one small problem, however. I had the "coleco.rom" in the folder as the message specified, but the emulator itself is looking for "COLECO.ROM" (all caps). I fixed it by adding a blank file called "coleco.rom" in the same folder as "COLECO.ROM". The warning message no longer appears.

Nice! I used to have a Coleco when I was a kid, and now I can play the games on the Pandy! It works great!
