TA3D is a free project whose aim is to remake the engine of Total Annihilation but in real 3D, with perspective, camera management, hardware acceleration ...!

So TA3D is a remake of Total Annihilation engine under GPL(that means free...) which uses original game files (means it doesn't run without *.hpi or *.ufo files from the original game,the demo or a mod). The goal? Make this great game run better on modern hardware, and bring a few new features (original AI is a bit classic(too easy), units models might be more detailed,...).

Here is TA3D, the 3D remake of Total Annihilation.

You need the data files from the orginal games (it is totala1.hpi to totala4.hpi, or data from scenario CoreContaingeancy). If you don't have the data, the Demo data is include and can give you a taste of this game.

With the 3D Remake, this game plays A LOT like Supreme Commander!

It should be playable with Nubs or Touchscreen, but of course a real Mouse is prefered.

/!\ On CC, you will need a swapfile for it /!\
/!\ On CC, The default driver will not work, use 4.04 for best result /!\

@ekianjo: about fps, it was ok for me, but the size of the textures is the main limiting factor. I can add some startup check to use automatic texture reduction based on user preferences (using a .shrink file in appdata).

@ekianjo: All button should be present, and you have a next / previous page when, for building menu for example, you have many things. I have played some levels (4 or 5) and did not miss anything (only point is the Free Camera button that should be under the actions buttons.

Continued: performance is a little bit subpar (less than 10 FPS I think), I am wondering if anything can be done to accelerate it a bit more ? Such as downsizing textures or reducing the geometry ?

OK i had time to test it more. A few comments: not sure if the left buttons fit completely on the small screen. There should be more rows in the original game. Then, some of those buttons are very difficult to read - is it because they are resized?
