This application is useful for simple youtube searches and plays fullscreen using mplayer or mpv. Currently it includes mpv and can also use mplayer from PanPlayer2 if installed. You can choose between a preference for 360p and 240p. It is based on youtube-dl and or pafy (included).
Note: an option for 480p feedback is added; most videos (all?) are currently (12112013) not provided
in a mplayer compatible format by youtube and will revert to 360p.
An option to add videos to a playlist is added, controlled with keyboard shortcuts: 'a' to add a video, 'l' to list the current playlist, 'r' to remove a video from the playlist ('a' to add it back in), 'space' to play, 'c' to clear.
01012019 - build 20
- update youtube-dl, since menu update didn't work here; may need cleanup of appdata/thetube dir
01012018 - build 19
- update youtube-dl
- allow use of mplayer from panplayer2,
this improves tearing
- change video player with m, saves last used
- config of video player may need some fine tuning
(for e.g. tv out)
10082016 - build 18
- update pafy, youtube_dl libs
- pafy uses youtube_dl as backend now,
startup and first playback may be slower
03012016 - build 17
- fix renewal of DNS info if started with network down
- fix playback of playlist items

@ekianjo: still works here..is there an error in the pndrun..have you tried with panplayer2 installed? (and maybe try the update youtube-dl option in the start menu)

seems like the latest version does not work to play any video.

@ekianjo: somehow missed your comment, sorry for the late reply! It would be nice to have vsync, unfortunately the current video player (mpv with some custom mod) is a compromise between some requirements: being able to play https streams, having easy TV-out, performance etc

works very well but one thing needs to be fixed: the lack of vsync with mplayer. when watching movie trailers its very obvious vsync is not working.
