Should work with joystick and d-pad.
You need to select the input in the menu.
The default buttonmappings are:
A - Fire 1
LSHOUDERL - Fire 2
RSHOULDER - Fire 3
X - Slow
You can remap those to your liking in the menu though.

P.S. I really don't like that the new version changes the aspect ratio to be wider. This makes the game unplayable in my eyes, since it becomes difficult to predict trajectories, particularly in the third level. I recommend everyone use the archived version, even though it doesn't save highscores...

This game is super! Although I can only use the "Spinneret" ship, I have no luck with the others.
